Meet Sasha

Sasha Toperich is running for Congress because he believes in secured borders, need for a comprehensive immigration reform, strong America First foreign policy, and a much better education system supervised by the States. Sasha Toperich is internationally recognized concert pianist, experienced member of the US think-tank community, humanitarian, consultant.

A naturalized American, born in Sarajevo, Sasha spent his twenties in Jerusalem (Israel) where he completed his master’s at the Jerusalem Rubin Academy of Music and Dance. During his time in Israel, Sasha performed concerts worldwide on behalf of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Israeli Independent Day celebrations, in the US in support of the Israeli Defense Forces, Hadassah, and other American – Israeli Jewish organizations.

For his ongoing commitment to performed concerts for the less fortunate in the world, he was awarded UNESCO Artist for Peace title. Sasha received his doctorate in music in Croatia and has spent his post-doctorate studies at Stanford University CCRMA with Prof. Jonathan Berger.

To help his birth country post-war transitional period and transatlantic integrations, Sasha accepted to serve as presidential envoy from Bosnia to the US where he worked closely with Ambassador Richard Holbrooke, who brokered a peace agreement among the warring factions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, leading to the signing of the Dayton Peace Accords.

Sasha joined the Center for Transatlantic Relations (CTR) at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at the Johns Hopkings University (SAIS) where he served as Senior Fellow and the Director of the Mediterranean Basin, Middle East, and Gulf Initiative. He is a non-resident fellow at the Soran University Research Center in Iraqi Kurdistan and the Advisory Board member at the Mediterranean Development Initiative (MDI) in Tunisia.

He edited multiple (CTR-SAIS) books, published by the Brookings Institution Press that includes topics on Algeria, Libya, Iraq, Turkey, Eastern Mediterranean, European Union etc.

Sasha has testified before U.S. Congress in Washington, D.C. and was recognized for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who in 2024.
